About Emotion Reintegration As Taught By Charlie Goldsmith
What Is Emotion Reintegration?
Emotion Reintegration is a simple, direct approach to working with emotions that are present but not fully processed. It is based on the understanding that emotions, in their natural form, are not problems to be eliminated. Even difficult or uncomfortable emotions are part of a healthy emotional system and serve a function when they are allowed to move through fully.
It focuses on moments where there is an internal emotional split.
By “split,” we mean an emotion has left the healthy collective of our emotional system and become separated from it. In this state, the emotion is no longer integrated with the rest of our emotional experience and is held in isolation.
Rather than analyzing the emotion or trying to change it through mental processing (such as talk therapy), this work involves a direct process: feeling the split emotion, accepting it exactly as it is, and meeting it with self-love.
This allows the separated emotion to reconnect with the broader emotional system and reintegrate.
My training with Charlie Goldsmith has shaped a precise and simple way of working with these emotional splits. At its core, this method is not about applying complex techniques. It is about recognizing when an emotion is split—divided, resisted, or not fully processed—and supporting its reintegration.
How This Work Functions
Emotional patterns tend to persist not because they are strong or wrong, but because they are not fully processed in the moment they arise. This often happens when we resist or suppress what we are feeling, usually because we have learned to label certain emotions as unwanted, even though all emotions are part of a healthy emotional system, including those we tend to call “bad.”
In practice, this creates an internal emotional split. When experiencing emotions such as fear, grief, anger, or sadness, we may resist them, suppress them, or attempt to avoid them. This separation maintains the split and contributes to emotional and physical distress.
This work focuses on recognizing that moment of division.
Rather than analyzing the emotion or engaging the story around it, attention is brought directly to the split emotion itself. The emotion is allowed to be felt, accepted as it is, and met with self-love. When this occurs without resistance, the separated emotion is no longer held in isolation and naturally reintegrates.
In many cases, the emotional charge shifts. It may soften or release, and the associated emotional or physical distress often resolves.
The work is centered on removing resistance to feeling what is present, even the emotions we have been conditioned to label as unwanted.
How It Is Applied
This work is intentionally simple and can be used in two ways.
Some clients come specifically for emotion reintegration as a standalone session. In these cases, the focus is entirely on what is present in the moment, without analysis or extended processing of past events.
In other cases, it is integrated into acupuncture or other modalities. When an emotional split becomes present during treatment, the process can shift into this approach without changing the overall structure of the session.
This allows emotional patterns to be addressed as they arise, rather than treated as separate from physical or energetic work.
What This Work Is Not
This is not a method for controlling emotion, suppressing symptoms, or forcing change. It does not rely on suggestion, visualization, or willpower, and it is not dependent on belief.
It does not attempt to remove or override emotions. Instead, it works directly with what is already present, allowing the system to complete what it is already processing.
A Note on Experience
People’s experiences vary. Some notice immediate emotional relief or a sense of internal quiet. Others experience more subtle shifts that unfold over time.
The aim is not to produce a specific outcome, but to support a process in which emotional experience is no longer held in resistance, and the system is able to function without internal division in those moments.
What Happens in a Session
A session begins with a brief conversation to identify what is currently present emotionally. The focus is not on analyzing the past or building a narrative, but on recognizing any active emotional “splits” showing up in the moment.
When a split emotion is present, the work is direct. The emotion is acknowledged, allowed to be felt, and met with acceptance and self-love. Attention remains with the experience itself rather than the story around it.
From there, the practitioner supports the process until it naturally begins to shift. In many cases, the emotional charge softens, releases, or reorganizes, and the system returns to a more integrated state.
The emphasis throughout the session is simplicity—working only with what is actively present, without forcing process or interpretation.
Who Might Benefit from This
This work can be especially helpful if you:
- Want to release long-held emotional distress
- Experience anxiety, fear, or self-criticism that feels repetitive or stuck
- Notice emotional patterns that seem to cycle or return in the same way
- Have physical symptoms that feel connected to emotional tension or unresolved emotion
- Are open to working directly with what you feel in the present moment
This work is not about 'fixing' emotions, but working with them as they arise.
